Memolyx Privacy Policy

Memolyx is a notes app for Android and Windows built around one idea: your notes stay on your device. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short, we do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. Your notes, images, recordings and text never leave your device unless you choose to share or export them.

What stays on your device

• Notes, checklists, folders, tags, images, drawings, voice recordings, transcripts, and translations are saved only in the app's private storage on your device.
• Text recognition (reading text from images), speech transcription, and translation all run on your device. Your images, recordings, and text are never uploaded.
• There is no account, no sign-in, no cloud sync, and no advertising in the app. Memolyx itself does not include any analytics or tracking code.

Permissions

• Microphone — used only when you record a voice note. Recordings are saved on your device. With Memolyx Pro on Android, you can keep recording with the screen off; a "Memolyx is recording" notification is shown while this happens.
• Camera and photos — used only when you choose to take a photo or pick an image to add to a note.
• Fingerprint or face unlock — used only if you turn on App lock. Your biometric data is handled by your device's operating system and is never available to Memolyx.
• Internet — used only for the downloads described below.

Internet use

Memolyx connects to the internet only to:

• download the offline speech-recognition models (from Hugging Face) the first time you transcribe, and the offline translation language packs (from Google ML Kit) the first time you translate. After that these features work without internet. These downloads do not include any of your notes or recordings;
• process purchases of Memolyx Pro through Google Play.

Diagnostics from Google ML Kit

Text recognition, language detection and translation use Google's ML Kit, which runs on your device. To help Google improve these components, ML Kit automatically sends Google limited diagnostic and usage information: device and app information (such as the device model and app version), performance measurements, a per-installation identifier that is not intended to identify you, and, for translation, the languages you translate between. This is sent encrypted, is not used for advertising, and never includes your notes, images, recordings, or recognized or translated text. It is handled under the Google Privacy Policy.

Purchases

Memolyx Pro is sold through Google Play. Payments are handled entirely by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. Memolyx does not receive your payment details; it only checks with Google Play whether Pro has been purchased on your account.

Backups and sharing

Backups are created only when you choose to export one, and are saved where you pick. You can protect a backup with a password; it is then encrypted (AES-256) and cannot be read without that password. When you share a note, text, audio, or PDF, it goes only to the app or person you choose in your device's share menu.

App lock PIN

If you set an App lock PIN, only a secure one-way hash of it is stored on your device. The PIN is never included in backups and cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

Children

Memolyx does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Deleting your data

Deleting a note moves it to Trash, which is emptied after 30 days or when you empty it. Uninstalling Memolyx or clearing its data removes everything it stored on your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
